It is the highest mountain(1,708m of Daecheong peak) among the Taebaek mountains, a backbone of the Korean Peninsula and the most beautiful one where is unparalleled in its grandeur with royal azalea blossom in spring, clear and clean valleys, red or yellow leaves in fall and snow in winter.Its main ridge which is Taebaek mountains and Seorak mountains joining Misiryeong to the north and Jeomong Mountain to the south around the main peak, Daecheong peak becomes a boundary dividing Oehseorak to the east and Naeseorak to the west where belongs to Inje county and is boasted as eminent valleys like Baekdam, Gayadong and Suryeomdong and rare animals and plants and primitive forests.

Daecheong Peak, the highest peak on Mt. Seorak, is located at the boundary of Inje county and Yangyang county, and it stands on 1,708m above sea level higher than the 1,638m of Biro bong(peak) on Mt. Keumgang. It's best known for hiking courses with the great view of Mt. Seorak such as so many strange-shaped rocks and a panorama of the nature seen on its top. From the late autumn to the late spring, it covers with snow on top and in June and July it is changed with a flower garden with azalea, royal azalea blossom, cherry blossom and so on, spreaded over a region of 99.174㎢.
